Carroll Charest

Carroll was born in Edmonton and raised in Hinton, a small town nestled in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies. She graduated with distinction from a 4 year Diploma Program at Alberta College of Art (and Design) in 1989, winning the Heritage Travel Scholarship Award in 1988 & 1989. This scholarship allowed Carroll to travel to Italy where she observed first hand the living history and architecture by working on an archaeological site as well as seeing many pieces of art and sculptures when visiting museums and travelling throughout Italy.

She has works in private and public collections throughout Alberta. Carroll loves the dynamic, hands on, physicality of working with clay. The molding and shaping, adding and subtracting, manipulation that it allows. She is inspired by the organic, energetic flow of the human form and tries to find the energy and grace in a subject to capture its movement.
