“My work is rooted in the belief that there is an important place for three-dimensional, tactile sculpture among the graphic art on every collector’s walls.”
About Ellie Shuster
Ellie Shuster first exposure to sculpture was to create a “mask”. She fell in love with the study of the face; trying to capture the spark that brings a person to life. Working from photographs is a challenge; because she must choose which expression or era of a person’s life to depict that will best suit her subject. She sculpts in water-based clay and then reproduces the work in cold-cast bronze. Her portrait commissions often require consultation with the family.
Ellie Shuster began sculpting in 2000 and have studied with many of Edmonton area’s finest artists. She is a member of the Alberta Craft Council, Sculptors’ Association of Alberta, Harcourt House Artist Run Centre, the Professional Arts Coalition of Edmonton and the Funeral Services Association of Alberta.
Born in Montreal, she now resides in Edmonton, Alberta with her two cats.
