Artist Statement

Sharon Moore-Foster’s work focuses on energy and suspended movement. She sees art as an ongoing process through which she explores the human form, integrating her knowledge of myth and history in her sculpture and paintings.
A strong respect for the strength, resilience and innate goodness of human beings inspires  Sharon Moore-Foster. Sculpting these men and women in clay and steel emphasises their profound connection with the earth’s elemental energy and allows a natural flow and integration between woman, man and earth. She seeks the authentic, attempts to illuminate dark mystery, and to express the incarnate in the yielding clay that, once fired, manifests enduring strength. Sculpture is a process, as is life. You acquire new bits of information and integrate them with the old, as well as surrender to the present.

Transition: the flow of beings from one form to another – the flow of creation from one media to another. Searching for similarities and welcoming contradictions, this empty space requires trust – intuition bridges the gap between here and tomorrow.
