Zazo Hajdu


Zazo Hajdu is a European trained sculptor from Hungary. His discipline includes planning and designing large scale artwork and portraiture. In Canada he obtained a diploma in Fine Arts at GMCC Edmonton AB, and studied abstract painting at U of A. He also holds a special degree in Animal Sciences and a B.Sc. degree in Political Sciences and Philosophy. He has 18 years of teaching experience in Canada as a sculpting instructor.
Zazo Hadju is represented by several art galleries, and has shown his work extensively locally and abroad. He has numerous pieces in public places as well as in private and corporate collections. He works from his Sherwood Park, AB. studio with his wife Gabrielle Hajdu who is a ceramic artist.
Zazo Hajdu’s recent works include: 14 low-relief bronze sculpture adorning the existing War Memorial in Ottawa, commissioned by the National Capital Commission;the Strathcona Fallen Fire Fighter’s Memorial, a 7×16 feet figurative bronze relief (Sherwood Park, AB.); the life-size relief-portrait of Laurence Decore (Laurence Decore Lookout, Edmonton, AB) and the heroic size bust of WWII hero Prosper Leriviere, (Regina, Sask.) A life-size statue of the late Frank Spinelli has been created by Zazo in 2004, and will be erected at the John Caboto Park in Edmonton in August, 2005.
