A photo of the sculpture "Ellie Shuster"

A ceramic artist, Ellie Shuster explores the intersection between pottery and sculpture – delighting in art that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Largely self-taught, she began her sculpture journey in 2000 and was drawn to portraiture and figurative sculpture before turning her hand to pottery in 2021.

Her work is rooted in the belief there is an important place for tactile sculpture among the graphic art on every collector’s walls.

Her pottery is designed to evoke warmth and laughter, with themes that are often Highland and Albertan.

Ellie’s portrait of Professor Stephen Hawking is displayed in the replication of his Cambridge office in the Science Museum of London England. Her portrait of Nelson Mandela resides in the Alchemist Gallery in Scotland. Other sculptures are in private collections in the US, Europe, Japan and Canada.

Ellie is represented by galleries in Alberta and BC, and is President of the Sculptors’ Association of Alberta.
