My sculptures celebrate the human experience, inviting viewers to connect with the universal themes of heritage, trust, resilience, and achievement. I work in Renaissance style, using ancient techniques existing since Greek and African antiquity. Humble clay, primitive wooden tools and months of focus converge in a volcanic bronze foundry environment. My bronze sculptures represent thousands of hours of creative focus, hard manual labor, sculpting clay, molding forms, casting bronze and chemical patina.
My professional artistic development grows with nuanced interplay between old world classical techniques, modern interpretations and my prairie roots. In my quest of the classical figure into the 21st century I continually refine my technical skills, while referring to the path cut by master sculptors before me. As a teacher I hope to inspire others to push boundaries and find deeper significance in their work. With a respect for art therapy I actively seek to offer therapeutic experiences with clay.
